Apple's Future M7 Ultra Could Support a Wild 1.5TB of Unified Memory.

Apple is reportedly designing an M7 Ultra chip with support for up to 1.5TB of unified memory and AI performance closer to Nvidia's Blackwell-class accelerators. The chip is not expected until at least 2028, possibly 2029, and Apple has not confirmed either the timing or the specifications. If it ships, that much memory could let researchers and companies run much larger AI models locally on a Mac, without relying entirely on cloud GPUs.

This Indoor Robot Floats Like a Tiny Whale, No Propellers Needed.

Researchers at Keio University and collaborators built a soft indoor robot that stays aloft using a helium-filled body and moves using flapping fins rather than spinning propellers. The whale-like prototype is quiet, lightweight, and safe to touch, making it better suited to homes, classrooms, or care settings than a conventional drone. The team imagines it following people, delivering reminders, or acting as a study companion. It was presented at ACM DIS 2026 and remains an early research prototype.

It combines on-device Step Edge intelligence with cloud models and Android, Linux, and RTOS components. Hardware specifications, price, and release timing have not yet been disclosed.
