Hey, welcome back.
Google had a big week. Gemini can now build actual files for you, Google Photos got smarter and Sundar Pichai was personally showing it all off. We also have the story of a developer who quietly changed how the world runs AI on regular computers. Plus today's top product launches. Let's go.

Big Update - Google Gemini
You Can Now Tell Gemini to Build a File and It Just Does It. No Extra Steps.
Until now, using Gemini for work meant doing two things: chatting with it to get information, then manually copying that output into Google Docs, Excel, or a PDF. That middle step is now gone. Sundar Pichai announced on April 29 that Gemini can create finished, downloadable files directly inside your chat. You type what you need. It builds the file. You click download.
This works across a wide range of formats. Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides are all supported, and so are everyday file types like PDF, Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx), CSV, and even plain text. Once the file is ready, you can either download it to your device or send it straight to Google Drive.
Your business has grown. Is your accounting on the same path?
When you started out, doing your own books made sense. But the business you're running today isn't the one you started. If your accounting hasn't kept pace, it's quietly costing you — outdated financials, no clear view of what's actually profitable, and hours every week pulled away from the work that grows your business. At BELAY, our Financial Experts integrate directly into your business. They manage your books, reconcile accounts, run payroll, and deliver the timely insight you need to make big decisions with confidence. Stop guessing. Start knowing.
Open Source - One Developer
He Wrote One File. It Changed Who Gets to Use Advanced AI.
In March 2023, a Bulgarian developer named Georgi Gerganov released a small piece of software called llama.cpp. It was a single C++ file. No $10,000 GPU required. Just a laptop, a terminal and the ability to run a powerful language model locally on your own machine.
Before this, running serious AI models required expensive hardware that most individuals and small companies simply could not afford. Gerganov solved that by writing lean, efficient code.
What Gerganov did is the same thing Raymond Hill did with uBlock Origin. He saw a problem that affected ordinary people, wrote a clean solution, gave it away for free, and watched it spread further than any company could have planned.

The best photo editing tools are the ones most people never have to think about. A single tap that makes a photo look noticeably better is more useful to most people than a 40-slider editor they will never open.

Heads Up - Android Users
Your Phone Is About to Stop Being Yours.
From September 2026, Google will block any Android app whose developer has not registered with them. That means paying a fee, agreeing to Google's terms, and handing over a government-issued ID. Apps that skip this process will be silently blocked on every Android device in the world. No warning. No opt-out.
You bought the phone. Google is now deciding what runs on it.

Google had a big week and showed it off. Gemini builds your files, Photos fixes them automatically. Useful, fast, no friction. The llama.cpp story is the quieter one. No launch event, no investors, just one developer writing code in Bulgaria that changed who gets to run serious AI. The best tech usually shows up like that.
