⚡ GOOGLE · GEMINI 3.5 FLASH · FREE TIER
Google's Best Free Model Now Comes With a 1 Million Token Context Window.
Gemini 3.5 Flash is now free through Google AI Studio, with a 1 million token context window, native support for text, image, audio, and video, and up to 1,500 requests a day. Google also includes Gemini 3.1 Flash-Lite for lighter, high-volume work. The API is OpenAI-compatible, so you can use it in tools like Cursor, Claude Code, or Windsurf by changing the base URL. Pro models are no longer free, and Google may use free-tier prompts to improve its models, so do not send sensitive data.
📌 One million tokens is enough to work through a large codebase or long research corpus in a single session.
⚡ Great for experimentation, but avoid sensitive data on the free tier.

🌏 OPENAI + GOOGLE · EXPORT CONTROLS · FINANCIAL TIMES

Advanced US AI Models Are Reaching Blacklisted Chinese Firms Through Singapore.
A Financial Times report found that OpenAI and Google have supplied AI services to Singapore-based subsidiaries of Alibaba, Baidu, and Tencent, whose parent companies are listed by the Pentagon under Section 1260H for alleged military ties. The transactions are currently legal because US export restrictions focus heavily on mainland China and do not broadly block Chinese-owned companies from using US AI models through overseas subsidiaries. OpenAI says it blocks access in mainland China while allowing some Chinese-owned entities where it can monitor use, even after recently suspending Alibaba-linked accounts over suspected model distillation.
📌 AI model exports are regulated less tightly than advanced chip exports, leaving a clear gap.
⚡ Singapore subsidiaries let companies operate outside the main scope of mainland China restrictions.

The Well Gives Researchers 15TB of Real Physics Simulations to Train On.
The Well is a 15TB open-source collection of 16 physics simulation datasets, built by Polymathic AI with researchers from institutions including Flatiron, Cambridge, Princeton, NYU, Berkeley, and Los Alamos. It covers fluid dynamics, biological systems, acoustic scattering, magneto-hydrodynamics, and supernova explosions, with data stored in a consistent HDF5 format. The goal is to train PDE surrogate models that can approximate expensive simulations with a fast neural-network forward pass, saving researchers substantial compute time.
📌 High-quality simulation data is hard and expensive to create, making this valuable beyond its raw file size.
⚡ Built for models that can replace slow numerical simulations with near-instant predictions.

🗺️ GOOGLE DEEPMIND · PROJECT GENIE · STREET VIEW
Project Genie Uses Street View to Turn Real Places Into Playable AI Worlds.
Google DeepMind connected Project Genie to nearly 20 years of Street View imagery, letting users create interactive 360-degree virtual environments anchored to real locations. Pick a place in the US using a Maps pin, choose a creative style, describe a character, and Genie generates a dynamic world that responds as you move through it. The feature helps solve a major world-model problem: keeping surroundings consistent rather than generating empty or disconnected spaces. It is rolling out to eligible Google AI Ultra subscribers globally and remains an experimental Google Labs prototype.
📌 Street View grounding gives Genie real spatial context instead of asking it to invent every detail from scratch.
⚡ Useful for entertainment today, with potential applications in simulation and robotics later.
